Ms. Sabourin came to Timmins as an articling student at the Crown Attorney’s Office in 2009 and subsequently worked as an associate at the Racicot Maisonneuve Labelle Gosselin LLP before setting her sights on opening her own practice in July of 2013.
Ms. Sabourin has focused her practice mostly on trial advocacy, in the areas of criminal and family litigation at the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal.
In previous employment, Ms. Sabourin was a senior Policy Advisor for the Ministry of Health Promotion in Toronto, Ontario. She worked with the Smoke-Free Ontario Strategy and managed the implementation of the Smoke-Free Ontario Act and Regulations throughout the 36 health units in the province.
Ms. Sabourin holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree, and a Masters Degree specializing in Health Promotion from the University of Western Ontario. She obtained her Juris Doctor in 2009 and was called to the bar in June 2010.
Having came to law as a second career, Ms. Sabourin has gained a broader understanding of common challenges that clients face when their lives intersect with legal issues. This has also allowed her to understand the real life skills needed to be a good lawyer such as listening, a sense compassion and practical solutions to legal problems. These skills, paired with her post-secondary education, make her an excellent advocate.
Nancy E. Cooper is a criminal defence counsel, called to the Bar in 1992. Born and raised in Timmins, she graduated from the University of Western Ontario, Faculty of Law in 1990. She began her legal career as an articling student in Timmins at the firm of Racicot, Bonney in 1990, eventually becoming a full partner with the firm in 1997. Nancy acted as Supervisory Duty Counsel with Legal Aid Ontario from 2000 to 2003 and is now on the Provincial Board of Legal Aid Ontario since 2011.
Sandra Prevalus is an bilingual associate lawyer with Riopelle Group Professional Corporation since April, 2019. Sandra was admitted to the bar in 2017 and earned her Bachelor of Laws degree from City University Law School in London, England, in 2011. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Windsor in French and History.
Brooklyn is an eager lawyer who has a passion for problem solving. Presently, she practices in the areas of family law, child protection, and wills/estates.
Brooklyn received her education at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, where she completed two years of undergraduate studies majoring in English before being accepted into the College of Law. She completed her Juris Doctor in 2015 from the University of Saskatchewan after growing up on a farm in west central Saskatchewan. She articled in Swift Current, Saskatchewan before moving to Timmins. She spends her free time hiking with her dogs.
